LOUISE & ELEANOR is the scariest and most humbling venture I’ve ever attempted. I funded the company myself which has been a challenging endeavor. At the same time, it has taught me so much about perseverance and dedication. If you dream something and take action, amazing things can happen.
After a year and a half, we’ve been featured on red carpets, in TV shows, worked with some amazing bloggers and charities and gotten to meet some of our inspiring customers. As a company, we are still in our infancy and have a long way to go, but I’m proud of how far we’ve come and where we are going on this beautiful journey.
How would you define beauty in your own words?
Beautiful to me is being comfortable and happy with yourself, while also being a kind person and having a genuine care for others.
What motivated you to start LOUISE & ELEANOR?
I started LOUISE & ELEANOR because I had a deep desire to go after this crazy dream and turn it into a reality. I named the company after my late grandmothers as they were such amazing women and so influential in my life. They taught me so much, and I wanted to share that through our company’s mission and values. My intention was to create a brand that makes beautiful products, gives back, and at the same time encourages and supports others to go after their dreams.
I think in most of what we do, we go by what feels right to us and follow our vision for the brand. If we have a bad feeling about something or it goes against our core values, we don’t do it. That’s not to say we don’t make mistakes; we do, but we learn from them and work to do better.
How do you hope to reform the image of beauty for women everywhere?
There are so many different standards of beauty and how it’s defined. I hope that women everywhere believe in themselves and their beauty. My wish is that they do not look to society, a partner or friend for a definition of what’s beautiful but go by what makes them true to themselves and confident in who they are.
LOUISE & ELEANOR supports organizations that help women succeed. What motivates you to give back to other women in your world?
I just believe it’s what we should do, and it’s a core value of the company. I feel lucky that I’ve had many people who’ve helped and encouraged me along the way. I had to work hard to get here, but if I didn’t have that help, support or opportunities, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I think everyone deserves that encouraging boost, and I hope in some way, we can give that to others.
I believe beauty is a direct reflection of how you feel inside, and that resonates with how you act on the outside. It has nothing to do with looks, but who you are as a person and what you choose to do with the short amount of time you have.
